what is the little gold box in my spare tire well in my hatch? can i play with it? what does it do?
i bought a digi dash power supply from mike smith a month ago...great guy...theres ur advertising mike. but my volt, psi, and temp guages were all still out....plus my fuel guage is very dim when it is on....or was. SO ANYWAY, there was this post that said that the 3 guages shared a common ground and this guy said to check the 3 by grounding them one by one...i did that, and my guages instantly went dark and never came back on....my wires are still gettin power but the guages are dark and of course i broke the temporary ground for these wires....i dont think they were ground wires that i grounded they were almost certainly hot wires...im broke as a convict right now and as long as i dont have to really buy anything im good....what can i do? even if i have to buy something, what do i have to do? just tell me what to do...im tired of this guage crap.
im considering trying the analog guage swap but i want to keep my accelerometer and compass so i guess thats out for now...right? i mean you can't just do the driver guages and not teh console guages can you?...and the guage swap isn't it pretty much the guage assembly, the plug, and the speedo cable that you need. is that it?
how do you know if ur MAF is out? how much is the fix? can you test the thing somehow?
one more thing...my brake lights suddenly dont work...my runninglights still work...could it be a blown bulb or would the others still be workin? where do i start here( after the bulbs of course)? any help is very much appreciated

The little gold box in your spare tire well is the "compass module" , I wouldn't recommend playing with it. As for your brake light problem, I'd check fuse panel (lower driver side kick panel) and relay's under the hood.
