Will The Cardone Industries 72-3057 ECU fit 1983 280ZX Non-Turbo Manual Transmission?
Hi All!
I am new here and I need a favor. I have a 1983 Nissan 280ZX non-turbo manual transmission. I need to replace the ecu. A mechanic friend of mine advised me that I must use an ecu that fits specifically for non-turbo manual transmission only. I've done some research and it was told by multiple auto part reps that any standard ecu for this car should fit both transmission but wanted to confirm with you guys.
The specific part I am looking to purchase is the Cardone Industries 72-3057. Will this fit and work with my car?
Please see link to the part here: https://www.summitracing.com/int/par...3057/overview/
Thank you!

Welcome to ZDriver!
How does your mechanic friend know the ecu is bad? This is rare unless someone backwards jumped the battery or the car was in a flood. I'd like the ecu if it really is bad.
Your Summit link is not giving a reference to the stock part#. There are various non-interchangeable ecu's:
79-80 (N47 head) ecu uses drop resistors, no o2 sensor.
80-81 (P79 head) ecu uses drop resistors, has o2 sensor.
82-83 no drop resistors, has o2 sensor.
I plugged it in to the Amazon listing, says it fits the 83 280ZX, doesn't fit the 81 ZX:
Looks like it should work. Keep me posted... ask your mechanic why he thinks the ecu is bad... more often than not, it's actually wiring or a sensor.
