Where have you guys been. Holset turbos are used on all kinds of applications. From hondas to volvos and yes datsuns at 20+ psi. If I were building a low buck high power turbo motor, I'd use a holset.

Sounds like the guy killed his motor trying to run 13psi on the holset with stock injectors and caveman electronics.

Veyenyl, you are correct, but those Holset guys are running dramatically upgraded fuel systems and "modern" engine management.

As you indicate, the guy selling it even admits he was using stock fuel injectors and the stock ECU with no RRFPR.

Add that turbo into the equation and you get a set of horribly mismatched parts that are virtually guaranteed to lead to disaster.

Big turbos aren't the problem, it's when the rest of the system is not up to the challenge. And he admits his skills were definitely not up to it.

would it be possible to get an aftermarket fuel rail, turbo ecu, turbo pan, turbo exhaust, a holset, turbo wire harness, and make a L6 turbo? I have a 260 and I don't know if i have enough money to buy a L28et (with harness) considering they are few and far between for less than 400.

Oh young lad... Anything is "possible." I believe Snw did that very thing last year... minus the holset turbo.

it was both. i swapped in an EFI 2.8 litre motor and then converted it to a full turbo motor minus the head and pistons.

so it was a conversion even though it was a swap. interesting wouldn't it just have been easier to buy a 280zxt and do the swap yourself? cause if i remember correctly you bought a whole car to do the swap?(i've been looking at all your old threads and posts)
