triple webers!!!!

hey guys just picked up a set of freshly rebuilt webers!!! they were running on a car and i got them at a steal of a price, youd never guess, but 300 bux plus shipping from northern b.c. some guy was selling a beat up car with a new motor and webbers, and cant get rid of it, he wanted 500 for the whole car, so i offered 300 for the carbs, he said yes!!! wooo hooo, im so excited, the race car wont need a new fi computer and injection setup, i can just slap these on and get it dyno tuned.

You can use the factory FI fuel pump, you just need a fuel pressure regulator that can consistently hold the fuel pressure at 3 to 5 psi which means your return line also needs to be able to handle the increased flow from the excessive bypass.

does anyone on here have an ITB setup?... do you think itbs could be made out of some old carbs? it would probly be a waste of time to make if you have the carbs already...

there are ppl out there that have done that, then run megasquirt to control it. each to his own when it comes to intakes it seems. im just wondering whats gonna be better power, webers or megasquirt. right now the webers are cheaper and the fastest, but is megasquirt gonna be better later. at least i didnt pay what i see the setups going for on the net. new ones are 3000, used in running shape seem to be at least 1500, so its almost a good investment if i sell them to fund megasquirt.

I agree. I wouldn't do a carb setup unless it were for a specific "class" rule requirement or for "nostalgia".

$300 for that whole setup including the intake manifold is a freakin' steal and is the only exception to my "rule" above.

I know someone who converted a Weber 390CFM setup to an "ITB" by using a fuel injector from a TBI Camaro.

The hardest part was getting the TPS working properly.

I'm currently working on a dual ITB setup from Extrudabody.com to replace a pair of SU's I sold off one of my motors. I have a MegaSquirt setup for fuel and spark management. The only drawback is that I need to use 740cc injectors to get enough fuel flow to support only 250 crank hp! That's the
problem when you only have 2 injectors for 6 cylinders!

i figure if i need to sell the setup and buy a lonewolf intake and megasquirt setup, then id be flying. im still working on getting printed rules. the head tech guy is a dick and wont give out anything without a punch in the chops. i gotta find where i can get it, and see if fi is allowed, it may be as im gonna be in gt most likey. and in a production class it goes by what the car came with, which would be fuel injection. one guy there in gt with a 240 is running tripple sk's. hes got suposedly 300 at the rear wheels with a n/a and those sk's. i kinda wonder tho.

Color me crazy, but if there's some kind of "protest" mechanism, I would use it. It's pretty freakin' hard to build a car to the rules if the Chief of Tech won't tell you what those rules are and frankly, if he doesn't know what they are, he doesn't belong in that position.
