Well I checked Nissan for a new moduel and WOW, pricey. They want over $300. As for Blackdragonauto they want for an 81 just under $100. looks like I will order that one and see if it fixes the issus.. I really want to drive my car again.

Replace the CHTS. I would not have messed with the distributor until ruling out the CHTS.

The ignition module normally does NOT fail when cold. It normally fails when it gets hot - and since it's right behind the radiator, there's plenty of heat flowing past it. If the failure occurs when the car reaches operating temp, then it may be module. Every one I've heard of failing has exhibited heat-related failure.

Here's an easy, cheap test (if it still starts but won't run after it reaches operating temp): Carry a thermos of ice water. Drive it around the block till it fails. Open hood, jump out, pour ice water on the module - thereby cooling it drastically. Now turn the key - if it starts, the module was bad. If not, there's another reason for the problem.

I used this to diagnose a bad module on an '82 I used to own.

Actually it usually fails as it is changing temperature.

At the Z shop of miami, we would tap on a corner of the module with a brass drift as the car was warming up.

If it stumbled or quit, it was the module.

Well we will see if this fixes it. I will continue to keep you all informed as soon as I recieve the module and install it. Hope (fingers crossed) that this is it and I can call it quits with the hunting this problem down.. And again it did die only when the car was heated up.

Congratulations, but don't get too comfortable. 25 year old electronics are a cranky companion.
