speedometer thread search

I am looking for a thread on this guy that took his speedometer and made it work to a larger face, he somehow made it tick for every 4 spins instead of 5, or something like that, then he printed out a new face and was good to go.

I have been searching for it and cant find it, can anyone point me in the right direction?

thanks!

You can calibrate the speedo and odometer. The speedo has a setting on the plate that will tell you the speed at a given RPM. The ZX is 1024 for 60MPH if I remember correctly. So you get the thing spinning at that speed, remove the needle and position it correctly to 60 MPH. Then you test it at different speeds. I was able to cal mine to 150MPH. that was the fastest the machine would go.
So now the odometer is correct, the needle is correct @ 60MPH. There is a return spring adjustment if the needle is not linear to fix the inconsistancies of the needle. I would recommend cleaning the needle movement with WD40 to free up the needle movement first. That just may be the cause of the inconsistant reading. Excessive drag on the movement due to old grease.
Then recheck and recal if required. Not hard to do, but you need the calibrated machine to spin the drive assembly.
Then install it in the car and drive it, if the speed is incorrect, you can buy a tranny drive gear from 17 teeth (Black gear) to 22 Teeth (orange gear) Ecah additional teeth on the gear is about 5 MPH diference.
That is what I did and I am about 2 MPH off, no problem right?
I dunno if this is completely accurate, but a quick search for posts by Tony D or Jeffp on HBZ will prolly get you the answer.
