Sensors

I went to autozone to replace both of the one wire sensors in the thermostat housing for my 82 280zxt. In the book they are called thermotime switch and water temperature sensor. They could only find one, which they called Temperature switch.(the one with a nipple on it) The other they called coolant sensor, which was the CHTS.(two wire) What is the other called and where can I find it? Thanx

From the FSM (you should download it here: XenonS130 - S130 Reference if you haven't done so yet).

EDIT for clarification:

#3 Thermotime switch is not present on the L28ET as there is no cold start valve.

I got a thermal transmitter. (called temperature switch at autozone) I still need a Water Temperature Switch. Which I can't find. Does the parts stores call it something else.

If you ask Courtesy Nissan at courtesyparts.com, they'll give you the correct part number for that item. I can't remember the exact name of the parts the local auto store uses, but try having them check under the a/c section of their system. That's how the guy at my local O'Reillys found it.

That's the one, thanks guys. One more quick question, should Teflon tape be used on those two sensors?

Nope - you want as good of an electrical contact as possible between the sensor and the socket. If you absolutely need something in there you could use a thin smear of conductive grease (NOT dielectric - that means it DOESN'T conduct electricty).
