screaming fuel pump

hello,

I ran my car for about 200 miles today, a varity of driving styles.

Car is completly streetable. All the upgrades done under the car has made it better than new. The steering is right now, dead on, no play, no way, percise.
The brakes are balanced and work better than new. The upgrade here was new brake lines and rotors rebuilt calipers and ceramic pads.

The problem is the screaming fuel pump.

An MSD unit. Sounds louder than the exaust.

What do you think could be the problem? Stock fuel lines? Stock damper?

thanks in advance,kenny

It really depends on how the fuel pump is made, I know the hig flow/low pressure one in my Firebird is really loud and I can actually still hear it inside the car with the car idling (an amazing feat considering how this car thumps at idle :P ).

At least if the pump goes bad you'll be able to tell :P it could also mean that it's defective from the factory and it's working against itself and that's what's causing the loudness........

How is it mounted? Does it have any rubber insulation between it and it's holder / bolts / nuts / frame?

No insulation = loud as hell hum.

Iv got a turbo supra pump on my Z and it sits in a nice insulated holder in the bracket, you only hear it when it kicks on before I fire the motor.

Is rubber insulated, per factory parts, still loud.

It's loud...however, I

Did the Memphis 240 loop 3 times today, bated a Mustang GT, a Mini Cooper and a guy who had red hair, driving a bright red Honda Civic, the Honda driver swerved when he saw the car.

Fun and I blew everyone away.

The fuel pump is mounted with rubber bushings..

JWT rules if you can afford it, IMHO.

cannot knock it.
kenny, and vsop drinkin, sorryl

resonance

msd fuel pump mounted in stock location. Noise is greater when tank is near empty.
I just fueled up with engine running, pump quiets down as the tank gets full.

I might try to relocate pump with better rubber mounts.

Any ideas? Noticable at highway speeds, overbearing in stop and go traffic.
