Will the hatch glass from a 2+0 fit in a 2+2 hatch? I might save the glass from this hatch before I toss it

Ok I have a small (might be big) issue. When I shift from first to second at a high RPM (Or at lest over 3K) It will kick the shift hard out of first making the entire car thud quite hard also like I hit something. the higher the RPM the harsher it is. I did this at yellow line and I thought my trans exploded out from under my car. and it only does it from shifting out of first.

almost all clutch related stuff is knew and adjusted properly. trans is at the right fluid level and yes I am using the clutch when I shift (duh) Anyone have any ideas what the hell is going on?

Maybe I should make a new thread for things like that?

Sounds like your hand is pulling on the shifter before you put in the clutch. Try holding it in gear until you push in the pedal.

Okay.

On another note, I've seen a few people with subs installed into their spare tire cover and I'd really like to know how you guys mounted it so it wont vibrate the entire panel loose and rattle like mad. I just installed a sub today and its sitting right in the middle of the hatch, and even tho I love the sound I hate where it is (Its only a 300W btw, I do like my hearing)

And I'd also like to know how to get the Z32 seats to properly fit into my 280ZX while still being able to put them back into my 300ZX later once I get it fixed. Last time I tried it the stock 300ZX rails barely fit on the front bolts but where anywhere near close on the rear bolt/stud. I'm about to take the seats out of my 280ZX and burn them. I really hate them.

Use the stock 280ZX seat rails, get some steel (flat stock maybe) weld or bolt the steel to the 280ZX seat rails, and bolt the 300ZX seats to the flat stock in a position that feels comfortable...

Would that work and still be safe?

So much for bolt in mod. I don't think that would be very safe either. it would also put the seat higher and its already a bit to tall Hmm

They do sit a little bit taller then the very worn lopsided low backs I had, but I got used to it real quick. Mine was a partial bolt in with some tweaking. Just gotta sit and and and then some and and it'll come together...

Ah ok lol I wasted 3 days on a racing seat for my 280ZX and once I got it finished. the door wouldn't shut.... So I'm gonna try to not waste so long a time to make a mount that doesn't work lol

Probably a dumb question but. is there a way to get the glass seals out of the hatch w/o ruining them or breaking then window to get them out?

I think you have to use a strong string. I R&R'd mine about 7 years ago, so I've forgotten the procedure.

I know you use a small rope to install it. But I've never heard of a way to remove one w/o damaging them. Time to experiment lol

used an unraveled coat hanger. or any wire is usually pretty decent and strong enough.

So much for 300hp L28's huh?

I started the figure out a way to pull the seals out of the glass on my spare hatch. But I measured it before I got to far along. Doesn't matter if I get it off it wont fit!

PS: Why is the 2+0s glass and hatch BIGGER then the longer 2+2's hatch?

Look at the roof on the 2seaters and 2+2's. The 2seater has a much shorter (length-wise) roof and center section than the 2+2, so the hatch is longer.

I see. Oh well.

And winter has hit full force in fernal finally and I learned a few new things about my Z.

IT HATES WINTER!

It barely even started this morn and I had to let it warm up a little bit before I could even get it to rev enough to drive w/o backfiring and dieing

And to start it I have to keep cranking it while slightly pushing on the gas or it wont start all all and just keep spinning.... ugh.

Check your cold start valve & air regulator.

Winter is fun!

The one place I didn't check for a new heater core. actually had one for $65....

Now to find the cheapest place for the heater control valve and all the lines. I expect to have a heater working like 2 weeks from now lol

I swore I put up an wanted ad for one. Oh well. Right now I'm saving up for the lines and for the control valve. Everything was leaking in my heater system. I was always wondering why I needed more coolant every so often.

BTW On the side of the block where the heater lines are. What is that brass thing that takes the line from the front of the block and splits it to the heater core and back into the engine head? Cuz mine is leaking and I want to know what it is to find a new one (or delete it if it isnt needed)

Trailer Hitch

Sorry, I haven't read the entire thread yet...have you found a trailer hitch? If not, search EBay "300zx trailer hitch" to find the model number and buy it somewhere less expensive. I pull a pod trailer behind my '79 280ZXR. Tows fine but tends to float at about 90.
