Exclamation Possible new s130 (pics kinda heavy!) need opinions.

hello, Zdriver i am on the verge of buying my second s130, 2-2 this time. SO ive come to experts for help.

the first one was rusted beyond my interest to even touch, lost all interest. nothing worked and it just wasdnt good at all.

I have check the car over a bit, looked at comman rust areas and check function of all components. To my surprise ALL POWER OPTIONS WORK!!!!

Power windows, Power sideviews, Lights, Radio (NOT Strong), Dash, Every Gauge expect time.

i was shocked at how little miles it had at 129xxx and still counted, so did the trip counter. My personal guess is that the previous owners really did care a bit for it.

so on to the point, aside from it being an awesome example interior and electronics wise. Also i believe it was re-painted paint is awesome shape also lol.

Looking over, i didnt see any major rust on the hatch or on the edges. it has Frame rust but it looks like it started in the last year. Even the battery tray is in good shape. little bit of rust at the bottom. but there is rust on the door hinges and i can see it traveling along the sill down under the fender. but other then those major parts, i cant find any.

let the pictures do the talking.

Pass. Too much bad rust, and that Angry Birds sticker makes me want to headbutt the owner. And it's a 2+2. With no rear seats. All the ugly with none of the benefits.

What's under the seat covers? **horror movie music plays**

Looks like someone did a good job of putting lipstick on a very costly pig.

the windshield and door frame scare me more than anything

Agreed on the rust, It is safe to assume that there will be at least twice as much rust hiding under the paint than what you can see. Try taking a pick and probing the area above the winshield. I would bet that you will go right through. The rust starts at the valley and works its way up. I repaired rust in the same area on mine. Visually it was less than 10% of what you have in the pics and it took a couple of days to properly repair after the windshield was out.

Well I will be stopping by with my trusty flat head screw driver to check the frame rust, and windshield but I will be taking better pics. If you were to see how bad old one was, you probably thrown up.

They daily drive this Z, the way it is. any other problem areas I should check? I've seen people want more for wrost rust then this. But I will picking at it today

I know how you feel - you really want the car but trust us - pass on this one. Sure there are lots of other rotten ones out there but there are still nice cars to be had for a reasonable price in S130 land. Take your time and get a solid car - not this one...

keep in mind all rust is not equal.

I daily drive a rusted z, but I know a LOT more now then I did a year ago. I would NOT have bought the one I did, but I'm addicted to it now.

Based on what the pictures showen, I would not get your hopes up. Don't let desire over ride common sense.

also be sure to check in the spare tire area in the back. I bet its rusted out and you have a huge exhaust leak in the car.
