Hi everybody, I at first decided to keep the aluminum '79- '81 side pillars on my Z. Now I am having second thoughts, on putting the stock black ones on. I need to know, what you guys think. Keep the aluminum ones on, or put the correct stock ones on. I appreciate your feedback on this.
Which fits more with your theme? I know you're going for one of the ZX autobots, but I'm not too familiar with them. What I do know I've learned here from you and Bleach
If based just strictly on looks then I'm going with the Black one cause those are the ones I like

I like the aluminum look. If you're keeping all your chrome trim, keep the aluminum. If you plan to black out all the chrome around the windows then go with the matching black pillars.
Autobots have shiny! go aluminum.

Next thing you know, Wildman is going to be taking a perfectly good pair of black side window panels and painting them chrome...
Still can't believe you defiled those nice black interior panels Wildman, it pains my heart. I'll forgive you as long as you promise to never do it again
Rod.

Hey Rod I waited patiently for over 6 months or so.
To try and get the silver panels I wanted. But I couldn't seem to get them for a good price.
And if you want to blame somebody else. How about the person that was going to trade me straight across?
I will not give out any names, but this is not all my doing. I just wanted to get my Z done this year. And I didn't want to drive around with a restored interior with no door panels.
I have driven long enough with the skeletal door look. I am tired of it, and want a nice looking car to drive.
Also my '81 since I have had it, always had the stupid holes, that some idiot drilled out to put speakers into. And I couldn't find anything to fit the damn holes. And my '81 is all red interior, and red panels, are even more fun to find than the silver ones. That is if I decide to fix him up later. I don't know yet, we will see on that one.
And no I do not plan on painting the black side pillar trim pieces chrome. If I decide to keep them, they will be repainted in black. But I think I am going to keep the aluminum ones on, to go with what I am doing on the Z. Thanks everybody for participating on this poll. It was a fun experience. I think Friday I am going to start taking the top of the motor apart, if I get that day off again. My interior is almost finished, I am so stoked!
And by the way, the panels I painted blue look killer with the original gray armrests, and window controllers.
Really nice combination. I will post pics soon, with them alltogether. I love them, they look really sweet!
And on repainting panels, not likely going to happen. I had to go with what I had. Even sacrificing, an original part, to make it look how I want.

Hey Rod I am just stating the facts, I am cool about it don't sweat it bro'.
I used and did what I had to, but you will be impressed with how they turned out.
I will take some more pics of them soon. Anyway I am doing my headliner next, and putting my roof back together.

So far it's 100% unanamous for the Black ones. I'm sure that has something to do that the only vote so far is mine
