I've noticed more and more recently that Z's I like. Namely such as 5-speed, turbo, etc. Or the nicest condition Z's all have red leather interior. Did anyone actually like this red interior? I could imagine that it's better with a red car, but I always come across it on the worst possible combinations. White car with bright red leather interior. I was bored, and figured I'd create a thread.

 

That red interior is damn nasty!!! I don't think it looked good even when it was new. I had a guy offer me a "Parts car" that was white and had the red interior and I turned it down because the whole damn car made me sick to look at. I couldn't imagine having to see it everyday.

My wife's favorite combination is a white convertible with red leather interior... Go figure, there's no accounting for personal taste...

 

my car came with red carpet, and personally i can't stand the ish. i think it looks tacky, and i fail to understand how anyone could have thought that it would look nice when they decided to produce Zs with that red interiors


i already have new black carpet from VB sitting in a box in my garage, but i haven't had much time to work on my car recently, and when i do have time the weather here never cooperates

 

I will be switching my COMPLETE red interior to Black and charcoal gray Ugly *** color

 

Hey I like the red interior, my '81 was a deep red inside and out stock. If I do redo him, it will be red and silver inside, and I am not quite sure about the outside yet. But definately not boring *** white!

 

I like my red interior (certainly better than the tan/brown that was originally on it!). My NA 280ZX is pearl whtie with a redone interior in red (except for the black Recaros). On my Turbo, since most of the interior was black, I'm going to do a red/black combination instead of all-red.

 

I dunno ... I think if it was done "right", like in an S2000, with enough dark red and black to tone down the bright parts, would look pretty nice.

If my memory serves me correctly, I once saw a 260Z with a dark red leather interior, buckets, and mahogany trim. Call it gaudy, call it awful, call it what you want, I thought it was ****.

 

Well like you said Dorifto, if it was done like that, then yea I could see it looking good, but it's usually just bright red for me. It'd probably be something that grows on you though

 

The intent of this thread was to guage how people felt about the red interior that came with these cars, not how they felt about red interior in general. A car with red interior can look good. I just think the original red on these cars was nasty. I have seen other shades of red that weren't so hard on the eye's.

ugh, i dont care for red on the inside or the outside. my dad had an '84 vette that was red on red, and it wasnt unbearable, as the whole car was red. but any other exterior color with a red interior, especially bright white, is just godawful imo.
