Please excuse me for being a "Zidiot"...

When i was first getting my 83 280zx running again, i took this part off of the top of the fuel pump, it had two or three hoses attached to it. When i took it off, because the car had been sitting so long, the ports were filled with gunk. Advance Auto did not have anything close to it, so i took a drill and attached a wire to it and drilled most of the gunk out of the ports of this thing, stuck it back on the fuel pump, put new gas in and voila, it started. Now, i think i'd like to replace this thing, but i have no idea what it might be called....can you help me out? Sorry I know this is a stupid question, but i have very little mechanical knowledge or ability.

What do you mean "two or three hoses attached to it" ??? Do you mean the IN and OUT ports? Or maybe the fuel damper?

I have a feeling you are actually talking about the float unit that is submerged in the tank & accessed from the hatch... because that would have several lines and the vent tube can get clogged up.

So, are you talking about the fuel pump?

Or are you talking about the float?
