yup, if your really serious, get teh low compression and build a turbo setup, mostlikly APS. but thats the short block, which means you pay 8k for just teh block with crank rods pistons and water pump oil pump. then you have to buy heads to put on it (use a metal headgasket and ARP studs) and put the heads on correctly along with the timing belt. then get the harness and ECU for it, and tehn a tranny for it and get it all custom mounted in w/e car it is you have i forgot already and a custom exhuast and custom driveshaft and mostlikely reabuild or replace teh rear end after a short whie since it isnt made to handle lots of power like that.
but still sounds fun

Boosted or not
I think we are assuming when we say that boosted VQ's fail spectacularly.
Most people who slap on an after-market turbo to a VQ start with a stock bottom VQ engine which is a high compression engine. Then they try to run 10 psi + and blow the engine sometimes spectacularly! Most of the stock VQs that run 6-9 psi on their turbos run pretty good for a long time.
Conversely when you start with a low compression engine or bottom end like the Z32 tt failure rates will be a LOT lower. This takes in consideration that the VQ is all aluminum and WILL NEVER be able to take as much abuse as a VG engine can (iron block). That being said, if Cosworth built it then it's probably a bit better built than most engines.

I'm confused as hell?? Do you have a 280zx and want to do a motorswap?
If so.. Hands down Id swap in a D15 Honda motor, those motors are crazy and can be found dirt cheap on ebay. Not to mention its pretty close to a bolt in swap.

i cant find anything on the web about motor swaps for it
i might need diffrent motor mounts
whats the price to change that?
or if i shouldnt do the swap
besides V8 and LS1
and skyline motors
ive heard of people swaping those in
but that costs waaayyy to much money

I'm holding back the flame-age for the moment to get things straight...
You started this thread saying you wanted a VQ35... now you want to throw in a VG30 or an LT5???
Why don't you build a 280zx turbo motor (L28ET)????
You are obviously new to car modifications... you should make things easier not harder for yourself.
