New Seats

Gents/Ladies,

I really do not care for the seats in my 83 Z, and I was wondering do yall think these will fit?

Do you think they look comfortable?

Those look like they'd be pretty comfortable. The shoulder bolster can be a bit of a nuissance on a street car though. Not only do they limit your movement in the car (try leaning to either side to do something ) but they also limit your ability to look over your shoulder and see out the quarter windows. Those are just a couple of things to consider. The look real nice though. As far as fitment goes: It's hard to tell overall width from that picture but if 17" is the width of the seat bottom there then I'd say they'd fit.

Ok, then I will not buy them, and take your word on comfort.

I am also looking at these any ideas?

^ Those almost resemble the early S30 seats. Those look like they'd provide just as much support as the first ones you linked but are more practical for a daily driver. If I had to choose I'd go with the Porsche seats.

In fact those Porche seats look like they'd be right at home in an early Z

EDIT: I just noticed the price on the Porsche seats I wouldn't choose that EXACT pair of seats due to the price. But something along the lines of those seats would be a good choice I think. Have you looked at the high back seats like those found in the '81 ZX's (and other years I'm sure. I'm not sure if those are the seats you already have though). Those are very comfortable and provide enough support for spirited driving.

l-dub has a link on here somewhere for Miata compatible seats that'll fit within the confines of the Z.

Has anyone here done thier own seat covers?

If so how hard was it?
Had you had prior traning?
Would you do it again or let a professtional do it?

Thanks,

I have those exact seats in my Porsche! (except mine don't have power) They are so nice, they really hug you and I just really enjoy driving that car because of those seats lol.

I'd do it

*Edit* oh jeez those seats are expensive (I think, I've never bought seats before... but yeow! $900? + shipping!)

Ive done them if you mean buying the upholstery kit and putting it on the seat. It's really easy. I work at a dealership but it is simply enough that i didnt need anyone to show me how to do it. I am a professional but even if i wasnt and had never done one b4 i would still do it myself. Zcarparts.com sells leather upholstery kits for around $500. They can probably be found cheaper somewhere else.
