Cool New member

Howdy everyone,

New man on the block, I have got a 1980 280zx that I bought in 2000. Bought it to fix up I have always wanted one. Just now getting a chance to start, divorce will do that kinda stuff. So to let everyone know Im gonna be asking and looking for ideas.

It's an 80... so not likely a turbo.

cause im such a huge s130 expert. lol... remember.. i owned a z32 and now a 260z. and im learning alot about that car... and i finally get to start puttin git together... score.

Welcome my Z brother. And congrats on owning a 280zx. (S130) And yeah definately want to see some pics, when you post them up. And how ironic, I got my first Z in 2000. Trip man, anyway you can learn a lot on this great website. And lots of friendly and helpful people on here.

here are some I took yesterday. have not touched her in six months. put in a hot battery she fired right up. looked under side got some rust damage ,floor boards, uni body, finders edge, bottom of doors. kinda scary. lots of work ahead of me.

welcome... that kinda look like mines when i first started but this one had a better paint, better color, and better interior.. hahaha but it will be fun restoring this car, i'll tell you that much

you like jacking **** do yah? if you see a 240 or 260 check the carbs. if they have a four barrel or a triple carb set up... steal it for me.. they are held on only at the top of the intake mani to the block wtih 3 blots for each mani. they are 13 or 14 mil. nuts and you need an open ended box wrench. the come of VERY easy. then just pull of break vacume lines w/e lol jsut make sure you have the throttle linkages that go between the carbs and on teh balance tube thingy. lol. should all stay together though... DO IT!!!!! lol

oh mah gawd.... well... that door part will be a bitch. besides that its all very dooable... but.... man... thats quite some work.... gentlemen? opinions?

I've seen a lot worse...

Those rocker sections of the lower doors are easily replacable. I think Black Dragon even has them in their catalog.

The rest is just a matter of cleaning it up and patching the holes.

yeah i love the jack mode, lol...and i knew where two of them tray carbs setups were, they went to the junk yard tho, before i had money to buy it....Oh and alabama man, that isn't anything, you can make it look cleaner, by just taking a grinder to it. Though i'd replace the doors, they look like mine. A nd your foor doesn't look bad, mine has feet a/c.
