new to the forum

Hi im new here, and I do not currently own a Z. to tell you a bit about myself I have always been a toyota man and a honda man....I am a huge supra fan but i dont like the mkIV supras i like to rebuild mkIII's . I am familier with turbo setups and working on cars. But I guess the reason I am here is beacuse we recently got in a 76 280z here at my salvage yard that has rusted away to nothing. Upon inspecting the car i fell in love with it (minus the rust) i love the way the interior is set up and I love the styling on the outside of the car. Needless to say I want one. It seems that they are harder to find than i thought. I dont want to spend 7 or 8 thousand dollars on an old Z I want one that is rough so that i can restore it. I am new to nissans never owned one before. Any direction you can point me in would be great...Also can you swap a 82 turbo motor into a mid 70s model?

Yes, the turbo engines swap in pretty easily. Motor mounts line up and it will even bolt to the stock 280Z transmission. The wiring shouldn't be too bad. I'm going through a simular swap right now...

it seems that autotrader wont go back as far as i would like, nothing on ebay or cragslist either. there is a place in tampa that is called z-docs that say they have some older ones that are rough so i can restore them....that would make me happy, but my guess is they want my first born child in return for a z....

Go to classiccartrader.com, believe me you will find quite a few Z's, and Zx's. I just went there a few days ago. It is Autotrader, but older cars. Check it out, and see what you can find. Also welcome to the Z family. I hope you stick around also.

Any supra has massive street capability. being that it is a wagon i would guess that it is a cressida. cressidas are amazing cars, they are sister cars to the supra and anything that can be done to a supra can be done the same way to a cressida. If i bought a cressida i would do a 7mgte swap into it...build the motor and push 16-20lbs of boost.....that would be an ultimate sleeper.... I am all about sleepers, I had a 87 crx with a built b16 in it that was an 11-12 second all motor car....and my 88 turbo supra was faster than that......but i am bias toward toyotas....so dont take my word alone

well. I did not see cressida on it. But I saw Supra all over it. looked great too. Probly make a nice projet, but that would mean me betraying my Z for a Supra. Not gona happen

Welcome to the forum. I used to be a celica/supra guy myself a long time ago. Once you own a Z though, it's like nothing you've ever known. The car will soon own you!!! I mean that in a good way though....

My Z owns me AND my bank account. And the latter is NOT in a good way Though I must say she's been taking it easy on me lately. Haven't had to replace anything lately

I'm just like CocoaZ in a way. I used to be addicted to Supras, and came damn near close to buying an 87 MkIII. I just never found the right Supra. Then I got into the Z with the Z31 and it slowly pulled me away from the Supra. Then I came across the 280ZX and I never wanted to go back.
