My first ever Z - 1982 280ZX T-Tops Turbo

hi guys,
Been in love with the Z since High school (1990) wanted to own one forever and I finally got myself a 1982 280ZX T-Tops, Turbo (working), automatic.
It is a fixer (see picture) and am looking forward to fixing it. Want to fix is back to original parts as much as possible (starting with seats). Currently have few problems and would love to get your inputs.
As the car warms up the drive starts to get stutter, you know, like hesitation in pickup. I know that the fuel injectors and air flow meter is new but the airflow meter has been tampered with by the previous owner. The second problem is that it take up to 2 cranks to get it started in cold (crank for 2 - 4 seconds stop and then crank again and starts up like it never had any problem)
Also the car has been in non operation since 2006 although the owner said he started the car at least once a month and let it run for 20-30 minutes (don't believe that).
Any help would be really appreciated!

ok, so my pictures are just too big for attachments...so any ideas?
THANKS

try a general tune up. it surely needs it. dizzy cap, plug wires, plugs, FI cleaner, air filter, fuel filter. then check the compression. just the basics to assure that the engine is in a condition that can be worked with. which it probably is. and get that air flow meter tuned properly real soon too. that is likely the cause of some hesitation on acceleration. you should probably take it somewhere good to get that done, but if you want to do it, you just have to learn how to tune for mixture.

X2 on getting the AFM tuned correctly. Also check the Air Regulator & all vacuum hoses / connections, as well as ALL sensor connections.

And another Welcome!

I've found the air flow meter to be trouble.... and vacuum leaks. If its new but been messed with, maybe mess with it some more. I did adjust mine at one point on a past car, but I clearly marked where it was before I modified anything so I could put it back to stock as a reference point. You don't have that option but you can always mark where it is now just for something to start with.
there is a thread on this website about opening, cleaning, and adjusting the AFM. find that, try it out and let us know how it goes.

Sounds cool

I took that picture when I got bored of watching paint dry

After that, all I did was crop the image, mess with the temperature and saturation... I'll have to retake the picture after I swap out the white mirrors for red ones!
