my DIY side skirts

Let me start off by saying that I very much like the basic body lines of the 280ZX. Particularly, I like the way the sides "roll under", and aftermarket side skirts always flare out. But I also recognize that it's best to close off the bottom of the car as much as possible. So I came up with a simple solution that only cost $10, and is subtle enough not to change the body lines. I bought some ABS strips and bolted it to the gnarled and chipped seam strip under the rocker panels. All in all, it was cheap, easy to do, subtle, and effectively lowers the sides of the car. I'm not saying it's for everyone, but I liked it for my car.

If you had bothered to read the name of the first picture, you'd have realized it was from the "H"ot "I"mport "N"ights in San Mateo this weekend ('08)...

Ok, this is going to sound dumb most likely, but what are ABS strips? Also where can I buy them. I actually really like this idea. It looks decent, but also is a really good cosmetic mod for those seam strips under the rocker panels. I was actually trying to come up with some way to make them look better.

ABS plastic = Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene

Those black strips that he attached to the rockers are the ABS plastic pieces.

Lookin good Heat Rave.

Shady, I apologize, I should have realized I was making a regional cultural assumption that EVERYONE knows what HIN is when I should have realized our neighbors up north probably don't get it.

I apologize for my cultural insensitivity, but I reserve the right to remain an equal opportunity abuser!

P.S.
I just finished my company sponsored "Workplace Harassment" training... How'm I doin'?!

No... They're Anti-lock Braking System plastic strips. Haha, now I can tell people I've retrofitted ABS onto my car!

I got them from a local plastics store called Tap Plastics. They have sheets of all kinds of plastics that you have cut to your size specs (I did mine at 61" x 2.5"). There should be equivalent businesses in most communities. They also make signs, so you can also check with larger sign-making businesses (small shops wouldn't have any place to stock plastic sheets).

If I can find this carbon material, I may do a similar thing with my front lip, which is stone-chipped all to hell. This is off a Subaru factory rally car:
