Which style are on this ZX? The product pictures on the MSA site are too small to see anything

oh, I missunderstood.

I thought you meant, "how big of an exhaust pipe can I hide under those (the car)"

The plastic covers part of the curved in metal of the door. You can't hide anthing under them. They are barely lower than the car itself.

You can fit up to a 4" pipe under the Z if you're not too low to the ground.

How about 2 4" pipes?? That possible?? Some of the guys have found a single 4" cuts hp pretty good.

Thanks Nismo, just put in an order for the rear bumper and side skirts. I've had the front one on for years

Now to figure out what color I want to paint it

I've been thinking about that too. So far the finalists are late Dodge truck silver(has more pearl than most), Blue/Silver similar to factory design with a better silver, or, and this one is pulling away, the "Hyper Silver" that's used on wheels that's a 3 part process, and only available from overseas.(contains lead, the good part of it is it comes from party central, Sukumvit st in Bangkok Thailand) Check out the silver on some of the new wheels, and imagine your whole car in that...

Funny you should say that, that is the same color I've been looking at - a gunmetal or dark silver, maybe a bit darker than the car I posted up. I wouldn't want to go with lead based Chinese paint though, I want to be able to fix it easily if needed, so I've been looking at stock colors that can be easily matched... Still looking

Man you are not gonna need a 4" exhaust pipe. What setup are you running right now? If your runnin an N/A fuel injection setup you won't need more than a 2 1/2" pipe. For the turbo you won't need more than a 3". Fuel inj has to have some back pressure.

Well, the guys that have been doing it are gaining from 30~80 hp by going from a 4" pipe to a 5" pipe, which kinda tends to suggest a 4" pipe won't be enough.
Theirs dump before the axle too.

Just ran some #'s, looks like my options are a single 5", or 2 3.5~4". 4" is easier to deal with for me.(and NO, I'm NOT using left over Freightliner stuff...to heavy)

If I remember right, the 84 Anniversary edition used kind of a unique and interesting white, had some pearl in it the way I remember it.

Not sure about the 84's but you see that color on 90's - nice color. I doo like the color on your top pick. My first 83zx had that color (bought new). It's called jade/gray. It's best with the gary and black interior.

Almost identical to my '83. Minus the body kit. Same color, and probably same year. Crazy...lol

Oh yeah either a black or gray for your side skirts. And I agree about the gun metal also.

instead of 2 3.5" or 4" pipes, you should just stick with one pipe at 7" or 8"... i'd expect the same hp gains from 5 to 6 inches, 6 to 7 inches and 7 to 8 inches. with this in mind, you are looking at 120-320 hp increase with an 8" exhaust pipe.

are you going to upgrade your intake and throttle body to match that? i mean, you are only going to be pushing out as much as you are pulling in, so you should get an 8 inch intake tube and 8 inch throttle body to match it.

For what I have in mind, anything more than 5" hasn't shown any substantial improvement. Yes on upgrading intake, no on changing throttle body. Maybe your suggesting that the secret to making power is simply going to BIG intake and exhaust?? If so, shouldn't take much to prove that, just get a series of garbage cans and cut and weld them up to fit, and use a lid for a throttle. I'll pass, a little to ricey for me. I'm going to settle for 2 4" intake pipes.

Edit, actually, I was going to settle for one, as it would make all the power I figured I'd need, but then somebody shot their mouth off, and I changed my mind.

A little bit of research and I've found a couple stock colors that fit the bill...

Unknown (but stock) color on this supra, looks good...

Unknown color used on the ICON LX570 built for the SEMA show - I'm sure its a custom blend.

Very sexy Ferrari silver, I'm sure it would be very expensive to match.

VW Platinum Gray Mettallic.

Same as above.. it's a recent production color, so matching it should be no problem.

Acura Carbon Bronze Pearl looks pretty good too, I actually park next to one of these every day, and I like the color.

So I guess its between VW Platinum Gray Mettallic and Acura Carbon Bronze Pearl. Does anyone have other suggestions? Does anyone know what the color is on the 280ZX I posted above? I believe I pulled those photos off of here in the first place.

im liking the dark silver metalics. i was thinking about painting mine something similar. or the pearly blue that infinity has for the G35 coupe. i used to hate the color of my 280zx, but its grown on me. its a brown glittery-metalic something... not sure if that was a stock color or if it was re-painted.
i also really like the (as i call it) "sun set" orange i see on some 350z's. i'm not sure what nissans name is for it, but it sure is pretty.

I've been thinking about gunmetal gray ever since I saw a Z06 on the freeway of this color:
