haha you guys...ok ok thanks for all the instructions about the prep of the surface...but im still lost on what paint you use without the clear...is it just base with no clear and you polish or is it just one stage that has mixed in "clear"

thanks...

I sanded once already and I picked up some spots that need takin care off around doors...

It's a one stage without the mixed in clear...

Now, a warning... I don't recommend going without the clear coat for any reason other than finish quality and depth. We all know that the clear coat protects the finish far better than anything else. So, durability is an issue unless you keep a lot of wax on it.

Rod.

I Do Body As A Buisness (on The Side) 3 Coats Black Base, 4 Coats Clear, 1200 Grit Wet Sand 3 More Coats Of Clear, 2000 Grit (8weeks Later) And Polish No Haze, Showroom Shine No Problem. Ppg Omni Base, And Get The New Ppg Clear That Just Came Out, No "heat Booth" Needed 20deg. Celcius And Above With Correct Dt80 Reducer. Nice Pre Prep Job. Buy The Good Guns For Paint, One For Base One For Clear, Don't Mix Or Result Will Be Haze. My Guns Are 900 A Piece. They Are Sata Spray Jets.

Dont Have To Wet Sand The Base As Long As You Clear Within 24 Hours Of Final Coat,if You Have Mutiple Colors, Wait 45-60 Minutes Before Taping The Second Scheme. Wait A Day Or 2 To 1200 Grit The Clear And Recoat, If You Screw Up The Base Sand (after An Hour Or 2) And Recoat, Then Clear Every Thing Within The 24 Hours

Well I was going to say you could just have him paint it for you, I figured you both live in canada so you must be close. I just asked someone I know from canada how far away you were both located and she said about 18 hours. I am guessing that is out of the question.

can i get my Z in carry-on ???

thanks for advice...hehe....
the main thing here guys is i want to do it myself...i could get a shop to paint it for me too since my body will need no work and for a 1000$ just for painting would do me good...but I want to do it myself. I want to see what I can do and the main thing here is no matter how the paint turns out i better be satisfied with it and not bitch and moan...right now both my parents cars are freezing outside because I have the garage to myself, Im using all my dads tools...So like i said im prepared to be satisfied with it and after all this work ill be glad I finaly got it done

THANKS AGAIN!

heh ok well back on my topic...
i just went and bought some paint ...its sad picking paint out of a book since you dont know what its gonna look likes...so i just went with viper black base/clear coat...hopefully it will look black enough and if it doesnt at least it will look new
I have to wetsand the whole car and i think there is like few little pits i have to fill in theyr no larger than an ant but i can see them in the primer...so ill get those done and clean out the garage once more time put new plastic everywhere to block off any dust or anything and give it a shot with basecoat...

SWEET!

A good idea is to hose down the floor so no dust kicks up. After you lay down some paint and have to wait or have to sand then the wet floor will prevent any settled dust or sanding leftovers from kicking back up into your new paint job.
