I drove form Hawthorne to Fallon and back today, about 160 miles. The manual trans is a lot faster then the auto, and a lot more fun!!! Plus I got the carpet installed my wife got me for my birthday.

ATF can be run in pretty much any manual trans unless it leaks. I've done it in my stock 79 5 speed. Shifting was much nicer especially when cold

My flashers quit working, so I took the combo switch apart, sanded it down and put in new grease, then it worked again. A couple days later they stop working again! Worked the switch over, put in a different one, checked continuity its good in the switch and the harness. The hazards work so the flasher relay is good. Does anyone else have any suggestions?

I've always had issues w/ the 280zx hazards. Mine is really touchy. If the hazards switch isn't ALL THE WAY off or on, neither the hazards nor the turn signals will work.

I read about the hazard issue, so I took mine apart cleaned it up and put it back in. The switch feels a lot better, but still no blinkers. Thanks for the input though!!

Blinker issue was a blown fuse from the transmission wires dragging on the ground. STUPID!!! There I said it so no one else needs too. 3,400 miles later, no problems!!!!! My wife and I went from Hawthorne NV, to Phoenix hoodless. Bought a hood from Borini63, then went to San Antonio TX. Visited with the parents and my 2 youngest little brothers for Christmas, and drove back to Phoenix. Got to hang out with WildmaN for a few hours, then headed on back to Hawthorne. Awesome trip no issues!!!!

We need "zdriver.com" business cards

My throwout bearing is going out, OEM clutch in it is almost brand new. So should I just change the throw out bearing or is this one so much amazingly better that I should get it?

Oh, and while I have the exhaust out I shall make a down pipe and new exhaust!! Sounds a little weird but I have a 3" glass pack 36" long and a 2-1/2" magnaflow. I don't have enough 2-5/8" tubing to make it the whole run without the glass pack so it will be interesting to see what it sounds like with both.

Got the throw out bearing replaced, and the new exhaust on its really quiet. I'd like it louder but my wife's happy with it and we take it out of town a lot so it's probably for the better.

Yeah my magnaflow is pretty quiet as well. Gonna install a test pipe after smog though, hopefully that'll help!

I got my BOV '79 bumper and air dam installed. BOV keeps my turbo spooled and sounds really cool. I'll make a vid later!!!

The above model is how I'm going to be painting my car soon. I've finished most of the interior, I'll post pics when it's finished.

I was told if you inflated the spare it blew up the same size as a regular tire, it worked! There is a fold in the tire and then it balloons out he other way. Most of you probably knew this, but it impressed me enough to post it anyway. I was terrified the thirty year old tire was going to blow up in my face, the uninflated (not a word, Google it) one has a huge crack in it.

I actually didn't know this O.O next time I blow a tire I'll have to try to use my ancient tire inflator to inflate my ancient spare. Sounds like fun!

I didn't use the Datsun can, just an air compressor. The spare in my '79 has 2 valve stems, does anyone know why?? The BOV is an Ebay special.

update, the turbo has made noise when it was cold. So I took it apart, the little thrust bearing was plugged with carbon. PO must have turned it off hot a lot. Left CV axle is going out so that's being rebuilt. Paint prep is going ok, got the lousy trim pieces off the sides now I have to fill up the holes. Huge rust spot under the aluminum trim at the bottom will cut that out soon.

Other than that can't find much body work to do, YAY!!!!!!!!

I got my new intake mostly welded up, with my new TIG welder. If there is any interest I might make a few to sell.

Got the band rust spot cut out, didn't have any metal to put in its place so I got some today. Everything is coming along well!!
