Muffler swap

I have a nice muffler just sitting around, it came with the car when i bought it and i feel its time to put it on. My only question is how to remove the old one, are they welded on? Or will it just take some work to get it off the rest of the exhaust?

Sometimes they are welded on, and sometimes just held in place with exhaust clamps. It really depends on how the last owner put it on- in a 26 year old car i doubt that would be the original muffler. Just stick your head under there and see if it's welded on. If that's the case just use a hack saw or a sawzall and it will come right off. If there are clamps just unbolt it, remove the clamp and take the muffler off. That may take a little shaking or banging on the muffler cause those clamps have a way of crimping the pipes together a little, it shouldn't be too hard though. If the clamps are rust-welded on there (which is very possible by now) you may have to do some cutting either way...
What type of muffler are you putting on?

eh its cheap-ish but that should still sound pretty good, a lot better than the stocker
I Just put a full-back custom bent pipe and a flowmaster 40 series and I'm surprised how good it came out sounding.
Get yours set up, shouldnt take too long, and i have a feeling you'll be happy these cars sound mean when you make them breathe!
