Might sell car, need motivation

hey guys, i am finding it hard to have love for my car, the day i got it plated and insured i went and cruised it. i loved the open down pipe turbo whistle driving around and turning heads, but every once in a while when i stopped the whole car shut down, like everything, it was like something shorted out real bad. i would get a jump and it would run fine again, myblinkers wouldnt flash so i replaced the flasher, checked the fuses an dbulbs, everything was good. i checked the starter and it didnt test good so i replaced it. i am positive the alternator is bad and so is my battery, but i am finding it hard to get motivation to fix this car, its a great car dont get me wrong, but i just dont know if its the car for me.

so, its eithe ri keep it and try to fall "in love" with the car so to speak, or sell it as one big part or part it out. the engine ran strong for the one night i had it and the turbo is wonderful, it has barely any shaft play, the tranny and rear diff still work great, and my BOV is poppin haha, i just dont love the car.

talk me into keeping it? or sell it, i was thinking $600 if you come tow it away, or you guys can talk me into parting it out for you, i am just ahving mixed emotions ha ha

Keeping or selling is a decision you have to make... it's your car.

Old cars require more time and maintenance. It's just one of those "facts of life". If you don't have the time and money right now, you could either sell it, or park it until you do.

Didnt you also find your Z at a salvage yard Casper?

It'll just take time, but as Nismo said... Its your decision.

more reason to take everything out and replace it with new stuff. yank out all the old wiring and start fresh...you will miss the car if you sell it. But on the other hand you can find another project and start at ground floor.

You can't force yourself to love the car. Like with a woman, theres either something there....or there isn't. It can't be forced....

Thats my take on it anyway.....

^ Good point man, well put. Anyway casper, look at me. I have 4 of these 280zx's. And not one of them, will even run right now. One has a blown engine, another, wrecked front end. The other a blown head gasket, And the last one in my fleet, blown, and cracked cylinder head. And possibly, destroyed engine internally. (parts inside block) Even after all of that, and I still love these cars. And am anxious, to get one running again. I don't care how much headache, money and time, these cars put me through. I still have the Z bug, even after all of that.

So as everyone has said. It is up to you. You could regret it, if you sell it. But if you don't really love the car. Then you should sell it to somebody. That will put T.L.C back into it. All in all, you can't force yourself to love something. Either you do or you don't. And good luck with whatever you decide to do.

If you weren't that far away I'd pick it up from you. 10 hours is a long drive, with a vehicle in tow would make an even longer drive...

Where you located at man? I can get the $ 600.00 quick if your near.

If I were in your shoes, I would force my self to begin working on it....its down hill after that. Just that first step toward doing anything that involves labor can be the hardest step!

Oh, just saw your location

I'll learn to read one day. I'm in GA.....so it'd cost a grand to get it shipped here. How bout I send a 30 rack of beer with the truck driver and we'll call it even?
