Yeah i have the same problem on mine. When i drove her home, it was on a bunch of back roads and i had to drive with my highbeams on so i could see.

also does the highbeams stay on when u hit them? Cuz mine u have to hold down.

When I did my turbo swap, I swapped the whole car wiring harnesses & after that, the headlights were dim & brights didn't work. I checked everything from relays, fuses, switches, grounds, and nothing made it better. I finally gave up on the headlight wiring & made my own. I bought a set of BMW 5 Series HiD headlights w/ ballasts & wired them in to turn on w/ the signal of the original headlights, but use direct power from the battery... holy sheet they are bright now!!!

here's a couple pics:

hey even those H4 bulbs off ebay will do some justice man... I paid less than 24 bucks for mine, and they shine bright! Probably no comparison to NismoPick's but, at 24 dollars, you can't go wrong...

Have you checked the volts to your headlight wires? Should be around 12.6v... also check the ohms of resistance (high ohms might mean a corroded wire or bad ground). If it's an electrical prob... new headlights won't fix it.

Best thing you can do is to convert to Relay's for the headlights.

You loose an incredible amount of amperage through the stock wiring.

I converted my 240z to a relay system and it made a huge difference.

Then I added a set of Cibie H4 lamps and it was like a completely different car.

The quality of the lenses is more important than the quality of the bulb.

City Lights? I take it u bought the diamond cut headlights from ebay, and are talking about the lil light bulb below the headlight bulb??? You just connect those to your parking light wiring. I personally don't like them cuz they make the car look a bit too "ricey." Kinda like the Autozone glowing windshield pissers. Anyway... what black rubber u talking about?

in simple terms... they are "seals" to keep water out.

when i first got my car it came with the original headlights which were quite dim and quite inadequte for the car, so i retrofitted the headlights with HID projector units using BMW 5 series projectors and Lexus IS300 HIDs. i would have had them done by now but it seems that the 'diamond cut' Z headlights on ebay have some quite brittle glass, and the one that survived me taking it apart met its end on the highway a few days later. this wouldn't have been a problem had i installed the tinted headlight covers right away but thats just hindsight at this point. right now i'm just waiting for a new set of lights to arrive so that i could use the glass lenses off them.

now that i'm done rambling here's some pictures

007, those lights look pretty sick with the covers installed. Nice Job, and better luck on your next ones.
