The "Help NismoPick get his Z home" Thread

So... where do I begin????

MSA was fun! But my car didn't like the trip. On the way down to LA, when I hit Vegas my motor started to heat up... valve rockers started clacking. So I stopped @ my uncles house just off Tropicana & Eastern and take a look... not much to see, but we changed out my thermostat & we were on to LA. Arrived in LA with the clacking getting worse... pull the valve cover again @ MSA Garage sale... notice the intake & exhaust cam lobes for cyl# 4 & 5 are wearing very badly... can't do too much since I was in LA. Sunday night we left for Salt Lake... made it to Barstow before my oil temp got outrageously hot. Pulled off the YERMO exit & take a look... cam nice and dry... no oil (even tho my gauge said I have excelent oil pressure). So... after a nice debate @ 2am w/ my wife in the middle of nowhere Cali, we call a tow truck & get the car towed back to my uncle's home in LV for a nice $450 bill. Got our lugage & caught the next flight home to SLC. I called DAS (Dependable Auto Shippers) and for $695 I can have it picked up & delivered to my door in 1 - 14 days. Good times! Anyone feel super duper nice & want to help me get my car home?

Yeah how can we help?

That $695 sounds kinda steep. Shoot, it only cost me around $800 to have my 240Z shipped all the way from New Mexico to Illinois....

that sux man....how many miles is it from your uncles house to yours... maybe you can rent a uhaul trailer and take her home yourself... might be a lil more work for you but prolly a lot cheaper than $700

Where is SLC? I assume it's somewhere in Utah? Too bad you had to burn the $450 on the tow...

does anyone live in Vegas that could tow it to him?

Some people have a truck and car dolly... that would be a big help more than trying to collect $700 in donations

I'm sure sorry to hear about your troubles. I had a similar thing happen to me with my last car; I had driven to LA, and then the night I was to return home, the transmission crapped out on me and wouldn't stay in gear. I had it towed to a nearby relative's house and then rented a U Haul truck and dolly to tow it all the way back home. I think it cost me a few hundred to do that because of the mileage.

Maybe you could get it repaired wherever it's at, and then drive it home. If you're gonna have to pay to repair it, may as well not use up the money on transporting it home.

Second that... donations would be great, but I don't wanna take money from ya'allz. If anyone from the Vegas area is heading up to Salt Lake City anytime soon & could tow it, I'd cover gas costs plus some.

AWWWW DuDe!!!

That totally sucks.

Sorry to hear it went further south on you after the show (it was probably all that tear-assin' through town on the way to Chili's that finished it off... )

Not much I can do from hear in SD, but I'll see if I can locate some help for you. Maybe our old Friend in Vegas can help out... I'll see what I can do.

Does your cam have external lubrication (with the oil spray bar), or is it internally lubed? Mine WAS external, until one lobe dried up on a long drive. I feel for you man & I would help ya out, but I dont have a job.... I cant even buy gas for MY car lol.

Dude, let me know what you need and I'll see what I can do. It was fun "cruising" to Chili's haha even though for about 1/3 of the trip I was playing catch up! Gotta love the bridge overhangs too! All of us definitely have to kick it again next year. I hope Shady can make the trip back out here again as well!

dude, put on the spray bar and just go..... or call a diff. company, that could be shipped much cheaper. try auto carriers in vegas, they make that trip all the time. may end up costing less by far.
