Help with fuel injectors
I have trying to replace these guy for a week now. I had to go to 5 diff store to get all 6. When i got the old ones i notice the new one didn't come with the lil block deal to hold them on the port. So i had to order those. well they came in today. When i went to finish installing i tried my hardest (but not too hard) to get the 1st injector in (the one furtherest from the cab). but couldn't becuz of the fuel line wouldn't bend enought to let me i also didn't want to break it. But it looks like i have to take the belt tensioner off to get the fuel line out. Which looks like i have to take the radidator off to get the tensioner off. Which is going to sux.
Is there an easier way??
Thanks

Have u been trying to replace those injectors w/o taking off the fuel rail? I think that's pretty much impossible. If it is a stud (not a bolt) holding the fuel rail on at the tensionor, you will need to take the tensionor off to pull the rail off. You won't need to pull the radiator. It's not really hard to do, just time consuming. The instructions should be well detailed in a Haynes or Chilton repair manual. You could have also used your old plastic "block" retainers too (unless they were badly cracked).
Yeah you definitely shouldn't have to pull the radiator to pull the tensior off. I took my tensioner off when I tossed the P/S. Mines a stud for the fuel rail/tensioner mount. Also, if you give it a good go it's possible to do the injectors without pulling the rail. I changed my injectors without taking the rail off the tensioner stud. Though I did unbolt it from the manifold to give me some room to play with, then it just pivots off the tensioner stud. Be carefull not to bend the rail though, it's alot easier than you think. And on a final note, When I changed my fuel injectors I had a couple that the blocks wouldn't come off of like they were glued on or something while the rest just slid right off. The two injectors that had the block stuck on were a different color from the rest of my injectors though.
Yes, that's what I did last time I changed injectors was to loosen the tensioner bolt enough so it gave me some playing room to lift the rail just enough to get the 1st injector in. I've seen the holder from the rail "notched" so that you can take it off the stud without completely having to remove the tensioner...
Also, don't crank down on those plastic holders!! They just need to be *snug*. Tighten them too much and they'll crack in a month or two. You can still run them cracked, but it'll drive ya nuts!
Good Luck!

I did unbolt the fuel rail from the block just not from the tensioner. It looked like i could do w/o taking off the tensioner. Well, i will give another go at it today when i get off from work. If i can't get it. I will just take off the tensioner.
Thanks for help guys!!
