Damn, Jake... that leaves ME speechless... I don't think you've ever missed an opportunity for a smart *** comment as long as I've known you...
17.5 miles of dedicated race track with 174 curves... I can barely stand the wait...
I actually may not have to rent a car when I get there. A friend of mine was planning to fly out on Feb.5th to take delivery of his new BMW M5. He's gonna try to change his trip and move it back a week, so we may be driving his new M5! I hope he has good insurance...

Better check if they are open due to conditions ... Feb is not the best time to drive the green hell as grip is limited as it stands .. be sure to check the insurance on your car before entering the 'track' you would not be the first foreigner i have seen kissing the amco there .. And that is no offense to your driving skills .. But it is a track with no room for error, nor a silk surface .. blind coners .. and amco a meter from where the track ends.
IT IS NOT a dedicated track basically it is a toll road put there by Hitler as he was a race fan ..
And your PS2 does not really help all that much..
Have you ever driven there ? if not don't try to prove you have biggest ***** the first couple of laps .. there are two corners that are on a angle one has a lift of at your braking point.. (those are the corners that you think 'sucker what are you braking for !!" ) and the carousell should be taking one way only at speed or will send your tail sliding into a divider...
And whatever you do DO NOT try to overtake the ring taxi .. they are not amused if you try and have tried to run me and a friend off several times ... however to do that you have to be in the 9 minute region. or have a car that can outbreak the mighty M5 (which i doubt are stock).
Best bet this time of year would be Impreza in my book. i cant tell you what im doing the 17th but drop me a line.
I'm by no means a pro there but lets say the last marathon classic grand-prix i was there (we had two Shelby GT's running).. off 135 cars started only 70 crossed the finish and only 50 had not damage.... I encountered some moments there to..
Be Wary but enjoy! And no it is not as bad as i make it look here ..
If i where you i would take a driving school class you drive a z4 M roadster with a guy that teaches you or cheaper isma alfa 75's not a bad idea .. 400 euros and you learn the track ..

as i m typing there was snow all over! it looks like this now .. so good luck with that M5!
When it snows you can go buy quad as of this year but be wary a big change of a closed track this time of year!

I saw someone on Jan. 7th break a wheel on a Spec. Miata by taking the corner too tight and getting inside the rumble strip. Putting a freakin' pole there is just damn wrong...
I'll drop you a note when I get in country and check out the weather conditions.
Thanks Frank!
Cheers,
