tinted makes it darker, clear has little to no affect.

Unless you're talking about the cutoff line, in which case I wouldnt a reason why the light would be disturbed.

no they wont for regular headlights cause they disperse anyways, but HID with the projector they have fine cut beams.... so i wonder. cause i would want tinted covered ones to hide the out of place looking injectors. plus then i can make my own mount system and not even use a stock headlight housing

Well now that we're back I'll add a quick few thoughts to this thread.

There apparently are HID kits available for the 7" styled headlight, with casing and everything, only they're ridiculously expensive:

I got my ebay lights, the diamond cut HID "look" ones, man that magnifying glass over the bulb sucks as it just reflects the light back into the housing and kills the actual distance, I think with the magnifier removed they'd be a fairly decent H4 conversion.

I'll make a writeup one I get everything together, also I'm still considering ordering the Halogen setup from Daniel Stern Lighting for my other Z, so if I get that I'll let you guys know how it is.

The best way to go is to get some used OEM projectors and ballasts from the junkyard. Those will be of much higher quality than any of the craptastic eBay kits, and will cost much less. The smaller the projector you get the easier the conversion will be. I used large projectors out of an older Lexus and they were very hard to fit in the housing. Some of the projectors out now are half the size of the ones I used. Acura TSX projectors are considered some of the best. Oh, for those of you putting HID bulbs into housings made for halogens, STOP! You will be blinding oncoming traffic and will lose most of the advantage of the brighter bulbs when most of the light is scattered out into space. Headlight covers don't do much to block the beam, I have tinted ones (well, one now) and the HIDs still shine very bright.

BAH! who cares, there are no laws against headlight mods where I live anyways. The sole puropse of doing that is that it is way brighter than any halogen upgrade you can buy.

Other than it's ghetto, wrong, a waste, and inconsiderate... Oh... and people will laugh at you for it. I drove my Z for about a week w/ HID bulbs in halogen headlights... it was retarded.
