Got a match up. May cost me a title?
Got a call today from my 83 year old grand father. He has been giving everything away. Made me an offer. Title for title run against his long stored Benz. Its a early 80s SL 550 do belive its a v8. Wondering if a N/A 5 speed has a chance against his with a V8 lol. He HATES Z cars. So either I get a low mile Benz or he gets a toy for his back hoe . Do think I can get it.

I kind of doubt it. That V8 I am sure has quite a bit of power. Plus The Z's aren't good on the straight line. They are better in the corners. I wouldn't risk it, besides that I would never race for pink slips. No matter how good my car was. Anything can happen....and then you lose your car.

Eh It will be good though its a 84ish with the dual glass head lamps. Before that lighting 550 they had in the 90s. Plus a automatic tranny and 60 tons of German metal. He was a executive / CEO . So 6 cars 7000sq ft house is wayyyy to much for him to handle. Gave my brother his Winnibago packed with his old tools. Lol I'm sure I can keep my title. He is however 350 miles away in Richmond Va. Were taking his hot tub and out door stuff. So I was thinking of towing the Z home via Uhaul trailor. Do I have to remove the drive shaft???? And if I do how the hell do I keep the oil in the tranny ?

I don't believe there was an SL550 in the 80's... it's either 500 or 560. Both have ~200-250hp (your n/a only has 130hp). We all know who will win (unless grandpa has a heart attack while racing).
But if you still end up taking it home and need to tow in on a dolly, just put the rear wheels up, tow on it's front wheels, and secure / lock the steering wheel straight.

The only thing that worries me towing front down is how close the cowl will be. And the security of the steering wheel. We will be on I95 for about 3 hours. And around DC and Richmond will be F ing crazy. 4 lanes wide packed going 80 Funny to imagine if the front wheels go loose. Think I will listen to my wife and take our truck and a buddy to get the Benz and uhaul back lol
