yeh you will have to have the customs, just due to the piston is going to stick above the block at tdc, thus the shorter 240Z rods, and the sx pistons are perfect.

Ah fun fun! Well Today I'm going to be tearing the engine bay apart and cleaning it out to get it ready for the new shiny engine! And remove the EFI junk sense I'm going to use SUs. And fix the rust under the battery and brake/clutch cylinders.

Cant wait to get my new engine tho!

Naw I'l gonna get an FPR and just use the stock EFI pump till it burns out.

Does anyone have like a fuel line diagram of how I should have the SU fuel rail hooked to the FPR and return lines? Cuz I'm not sure if having the EFI pump push against something thats dropping it to 4 PSI will burn it out or something.

Congrats, your doing what I did, in 1975, su's, on an l16 in that case.(ran 94 mph in 3rd uphill) There's a myriad of much better choices now. Think about all that old british stuff and having to goof with the su's constantly....(which isn't all bad, that's why I got my 51 MG)

Why not just eliminate the electric pump and go buy a mechanical fuel pump for a 70 datsun pu for 20$ and throw it on and say the hell with it.

Because I need my power steering, which the pump mounts to the same place lol And This is a I 6 not a 4 cylinder.

The timing cover, and therefore basically everything that bolted up to it, was the same from the L4 to the L6.

Power Steering is for pussies! my car has manual steering, and my steering wheel was smaller than stock! lol

K make that intake for a 4 cylinder fit the I6 w/o any mods then lol

And if I had a manual rack and pinon or w/e it is, I would care less about PS as it never had it! lol but it does, so I wanna keep it lol

Which would be easier. Dropping in the engine and trans as a complete unit(I have one of those engine leveling thingys), OR dropping the engine in then stabbing the trans from under the car?

one thing is massively easier.

and you can get rid of the PS, just take the pump and all the lines off, and turn the wheels back and forth a couple times (with the car in the air) to get all of the fluid out, then cap all the orifices.

You can't mount a mechanical pump to a f.i. head...there's no fuel pump hole in the head.

Wont that wear out the seals and gears in the Recirculating ball PS gear box?

I got a rough quote for my trans rebuild. Their looking at $600-$800 (roughly) depending of if it needs bearings or not! Thats sounds WAY to pricey! Considering I can get everything (sept the gaskets) for like $200!

I know that, I also know that the fuel pumps, water pumps and distributor housings, oil pumps, flywheels, and probably more, will interchange, so it doesn't make any difference, which you obviously don't know. That's why they're called l series engines, they're patterned after the 50's 190 Mercedes engine they bought the rights to.

You know, you can be a big ******* sometimes.

And I know all that thank you, but I also know you showed me an I4 intake, and that would obviously not fit an L6 w/o chopping up another intake to make it have all 6 ports.

Anyways, has anyone here ever done an overhaul of their transmission before? because if its not has hard as the FSM makes it seem, I'm gonna save myself like $500 and do it myself.

The 240SX trans modd is something to consider. it does not take much at all to bolt on. just a lil machining, maybe about 100$ worth. Plus drive shaft. It's a lil more modern 5 speed, and you can replace the shifter for a shorty like the BWT-5.
