yes. haveing the wrong relay in the Injector relay will have the pump hot at all times. that relay is green. and located behind the battery, passenger fender, behind the lil black plastic plate. three bolts. 10mm

hmm, interesting.
green huh? which ones green?

or should be green if it was a newer car.
i should say when ever i ask something like this that mines an early '79.

just to check and see if it had been replace before because i have never changed it, i checked the other relays and they are the same with part numbers printed on the sides. i didnt get the partnumber off any of those in there.

i take it if you replace the wrong relay it causes it to run that if the relay goes bad it could cause it to run too.

also when does it know when to shut off?
i know an atari 2600 handles the cars computing but i dont know if its just on a timer or if its smart enough to know when to shut off after a certian pressure is reached...

i'm going to check it before the FPR while the car is off and see.

Your picture is of the EFI relay... not the fuel pump relay. The fuel pump relay IS green, and it's located right of the glove box. The ecu tells it to prime for 5 seconds & shut off when the key is turned to the ON but not START.

every 82 and 83 i've seen has a green plastic relay. and putting a regular black relay there causes it to run even with key in the locked and out position. if a relay goes bad. it could leave the connection hot at all times. thus leaving the pump on. or if the timer goes out. could leave it on as long as theres power. i got this for you. you can try it. it's for 79 only. maby it will help.

oh ok thanks for the pic, i can tell the relay is behind the kick pannel now.
i was wondering if it went by pressure because i did notice the other day when it started to run all the time weither the car was on or not that it was alot louder than it used to be but i also ran it to nearly bone dry and it suppetered some like there was junk in it. its not changed how it runs though, still runs the same as it used too.

edit, i had checked the box twards the front passneger relays before and i see the big relay is the fuel pump but the one next to it (#5) is the inhibitor relay, i dont have an inhibitor relay installed there its empty.

whats it do and is that something i might want to think about putting in there?

alright so i took a look and there arent any pins in that connector so i am not worrying about it.

as for the neighboring relay next to it, the huge fuel pump one, i took it out to check it and it rattles....so i think i am gonna try and yard a new one.
its not a biggie i just wont let the car sit with out it running and they key is on.
