Fuel Pump not shutting off after 5 seconds

I've been going through a bunch of electrical challenges as we try to get our LeMons race car back up and running for a race in a couple of weeks. Among other things I found that the fuel pump was dead (replaced that) and I was also not get switched 12v to the pump. After (I think) remedying this, what I'm not finding is that when the key is in the IG position (one short of cranking) the fuel pump turns on, but it does NOT automatically shut off after 5 seconds. My recollection is that it used to do this. I've poured over the wiring diagrams, but can't pinpoint where this "timer" would be and how it is triggered. Has anybody had experience with this issue, and if so, any insights you could share with me? Thanks in advance.

For the n/a, depending on the year, either the AFM or oil pressure sensor cuts the fuel pump.

So does your fuel pump just keep going?

Thanks Nismo. Yes, the pump will just keep running as long as the key is turned to the position just shy of cranking. The car is a 1980, I don't know the build month off-hand. Do you know when the transition was from oil pressure sensor to AFM, or vice versa?
