OK....so here is what our problem when teh fuel pump didnt work, could be yours too. i dont know if the AFM is differnt from s30-s130, but if you take the black little plastic thing off you will see this (llok at pictures) i put a red arrow at the contact on the slider for the AFM and if that little copper cuy is not making good contact with the strip as it rotates, the fuel pump wont work.....lokky at pictures hopefully you get what i mean.

and here is just the afm

hehe...I do appreciate you trying to help. But there is one rather small problem with your suggestion: I've got a carbureted 260Z No AFM on this one. I haven't verified if the fuel pump relay is any good either. Once I get something I can test the circuit with I'll be able to narrow it down. It sucks having to stare at this thing and not be able to do anything to her. I ordered a bunch of tools and a cheapo-meter via mail order. I've just got to wait til it all gets here Hopefully before this coming weekend. I wanted to get this straightened out so I could drive her to the new house rather then having her towed. A new pump is only going to run me $40-50 and the replacement pump that Advance carries is used for some common domestic vehicles as well so chances are good they'll have one in stock if the problem ends up being the pump. I'm gonna get under her this weekend to make sure its not just a bad ground or something like that.

Well I finally got her to run. Barely though. The electric pump is hardly working at all. I had to hard wire it as the relays are not getting power (looking into that one). But the pump is sounding pretty rough and harldy pushing any fuel through a new filter. I managed to drive her into the garage finally, but only barely as she wants to stall as soon as I touch the accelerator (some careful clutch modulation got her there). New aftermarket pumps are $50 and under so as soon as I get my hands on one of those I should be golden (with a little tuning). Ignition is nice and healthy and I took a fuel sample from the tank and it looks good and clean.

that'd be cool if it works out for you and you end up getting it for that price. You got a link?

Here's one in pretty good shape, and it runs. All the way in TX though: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsu...QQcmdZViewItem
Cant say I'm too fond of the color either

And it's already been converted to '72 round top SU's so it should be no problem to tune and run properly if you do get it.

I'd definitely inspect for more rust though. With the floorboards and the fender rust, there's gonna be rust under the battery tray and possibly into the front structural members.

^ I was expecting to find more rust then I did on mine as well, seeing as how it was coming out from Northern Minnesota. The floors are spotless and rails are are rust free judging from a visual inspection from under the car with a flash light. I've got plenty of body rust though (mostly surface). The 280zx I bought in OH though was completely rusted out. The passenger floor was practically gone as was the hatch floor.

Got a question for you savvy S30 fans (uhem, lww ). I heard a rumor that dealerships used to install the round tops on the 260Z's as a fix for customers complaining about driveability issues that ended up being related to the stock carbs. Any truth to this? I couldnt find any info on this and I wasn't around back when this could've been happening so I dont have a clue. I'm just curious cause of the few 260Z you do see a good chunk of them seem to have the roun- tops.
