I recently bought a '79 280zx from my neighbor. Everything was running as smoothly as expected from a car that hasn't been driven in 10 years or so.

Replaced the distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs, and the wires already. Basically replaced all the fluids.

I took it out today for a long drive then to smog. I passed everywhere except for my CO% measuring 2.3 at 15mph and 1.81 at 25 mph.

Anyone have any ideas of what i should do it make it work? Thanks.

 

Have you checked the exhaust system or catalytic converter? Seeing as I live in a place that does not have emissions testing (yet) I find that the exhaust systems usually have small leaks..... and that most of the time the catalytic converters are not there.

After I failed I took the car to get the exhaust redone after the cat. I guess I should have looked into changing that also. Thanks for your advice. I'll check out the cat today.
