engine swap?

engine swap?
Truth be told, my Z has a pretty nice body, but I am barely getting by with the engine. Just as a heads up, can anyone recomend an engine swap? I know it's a little early and not planned out, but I need some sort of goal to aspire for this car. I have seen ZX's with an RB26 and a VG30DETT? is one of these more benificial than the other? I know either will be A LOT of time/work/money but it's something to go for. Please let me know.
Thanks!

I hear the VG30DETT has a harder time fitting because of the turbos. The RB series fits in fairly well, with a different oilpan, but you will have a harder time finding parts for it since it's an uncommon JDM engine (unlike the SR20). The 280ZX engine bay isn't exactly the same as the 1st gens, so sometimes the fitment issues are different. HybridZ.org is considered the definitive source for Z engine swaps, but be sure to use the Search function for your questions first, or else the senior members there will eat you alive.

I would love to someday do an RB swap of somekind. I found a place that sells oilpans for the swap:

I have heard that there is some random timing belt for a porsche or something that works on RB engines. Other parts like spark plugs should be no problem. I think they have direct ignition, so you wouldn't have to worry about a distributor cap or wires. Probably some US market coils will fit it. There is probably some thermostat available too. Who knows. Its 6 cly swap that makes the most sense in z's. Unfortunately, ever since 240sx people figured out how to put RB's in their cars, the price has gone up. Man stick with the SR20!! Speaking of that, that engine will probably fit too. VG30DETT would be a super-duper pain in the butt to do. I don't want to say it, but you can also do a Small Block Chevy swap. This has been done successfully alot. Initially it would cost alot to setup, but you could make a very dangerous z that way!

Ooh, I'd been wondering where I could get an RB20 oilpan. But geez that seems expensive (not that I really know how much oilpans are supposed to go for). The RB is one of the engines I'm considering, but I'm also thinking of an LS1. I don't have to shell out for all the extra expensive turbo stuff (intercooler, boost controller, wastegate, etc.etc) and I have instant 300+hp without any mods! But as I mentioned with the differences in the the engine bay, I hear the LS1 doesn't fit as easily in the ZX engine bay as it does with the 1st gens.
