Re: fix 81 zx engine or swap engine for more power????
The 81 turbo engine has a lot more to it than just the block and head. Go ahead and replace your head gasket. That is fairly easy to do. Swapping engines (especially with a turbo) seems like way too much work just to fix a blown head gasket. A 240Z engine would not be good. They are a smaller bored engine and use carbs. You'll want to stick with a 1975-83 block/head if you plan to swap engine blocks to fix your problem. You can change the head gasket in a day and then think about the turbo swap for a later project.

yes, that is true. It takes a little more knowledge of the fuel injection to modify them for higher rpm power. I suppose most people who build an engine with fuel injection use the stock fuel setup with a modifed engine. Maybe I should try building a fast n/a 240Z with fuel injection just to see if it works as well as I think it will. That would be a good discussion for another topic.

Like a large tube with flared intake runners and a big throttle body. Also a computer designed to get information from vaccume sensors instead of an air flow meter so your air intake is wide open. That's kind of what I had in mind...
