EGR Tube Removal

How do I loosen the EGR tube connector? Do all 3 parts spin or do I just turn the middle?

I just got the intake manifold completely disconnected and I'm stuck trying to get the tube off. I'd cut it if I had anything that I could get down there to cut it with.

the part on the intake spins, but that's still a huge pain getting it off. We needed a torch to get mine out. What I did was I just got a small bladed hacksaw and just cut for a while. Eventually cut through the tube, then when the intake was out, we used a torch to remove the EGR tube from my turbo downpipe and the intake.

PB Blaster.... and lots of it. Use the CORRECT size wrench as well.

If that doesn't work... do as Duowing said & heat it w/ a rosebud tipped torch. Then chase your friends around pretending to brand them (doesn't help... but it sure is fun!)

As my goal was to just get rid of the EGR, for future removals and such. I was pretty quick to jump to the hacksaw conclusion.

The EGR tube will always rust and seize. Thats just a fact of life with the early Z cars. Your best bet is to use a small torch and some PB or WD40. Let it soak, overnight if you have the time, and try again with a proper sized wrench. If it still wont budge youll just have to cut it and get another. There really isnt much you can do with the manifold still on the car. There is no room to apply some decent torque. Once you get it off, if you decide to put it back on just use some antisieze similar to the stuff used on spark plugs, apply a generous amount to the threads of the new or used EGR tube and youll never have this issue again.

I tried all but the blowtorch and decided to just leave it attached while I changed the intake/exhaust gasket. Thanks for the ideas though.

What's the 5/8 hose running from under the intake manifold to a bigger pipe on the block? Mine just broke off and I couldn't figure it out.

That depends on your local emissions laws.
