Are opinions are well justified though, as a vinyl top WILL rust if it hasn't already rusted through.
(also screw the vinyl top, if you like it because it's shape tickles your pickle in some kinky way, then just pull it off and paint the outline in that color paint. But vinyl tops are not very smart on a very rust prone car and arent rare.)

if you hadn't read, this car is damn near immaculate, i can buff the original paint and it will gleam close to showroom quality, the roof is not ripped or torn or cracked. it's insane. car has 80,000 miles on it and spent it's entire life in a garage except the last 3 yrs has been outside, under a canopy. why would i want to tear it off, lol.

its true, i picked up a Z form texas, thought it was rust free, till i pulled the fenders motor trans seats radiator everything basically. found a rust OUT section on the radiator support (small small section) and a a nickle sized hole in the floor board. ok so its not much but still, had i conitnued with the assumption that it truly was rust free who knows what that could have turned into. and removing the fenders is always a good idea to check under those. there is ALOT of hidden area under those.
mind if i ask why the vinyl top appeals to you? more so than if it were just painted the same color as the rest of the car?

the car was gutted internally when he fixed the one rust spot in the floorpan, he's gone over this car, granted it may have had rust at one point, but does not now, he has fixed everything, the engine bay was resprayed when the engine was pulled for the rebuild, the underbody has been coated as well as the wheel wells. it's in great condition. It's not like i was searching for a vinyl top, the car fell in my lap, i saw it, and i like it. it's that simple not some big conspiracy on with or without vinyl top, it came with it, so i'm gonna keep it there, lol.
