car won't idle, help!

Hi, I have a 1983 280zx, I just put new pacesetter headers on it,the car starts right up but won't idle. We tried adjusting the idle speed, but it does nothing, ran some diagnostic procedures provided by the manual, but nothing seams to be working. Don't know if this has anything to do with it but we ran one of the diagnostics to see if the exhaust gas sensor was working properly and the test was telling us that we needed a new one. Another thing that I don't know has anything to do with my problem is the steel hose connecting the header and the EGR valve is disconected because the connection was put in the wrong place on the header.
Nothing has been done to the car except for new injectors. After intalling the new injectors the car still ran perfectley fine. Now, the car starts fine, and I can keep it at idle speed by applying some throttle, but as soon as I let up the car dies. Tell me if I'm wrong, but this is what i've come up with, the o2 sensor shouldn't matter at idle because the EFI starts to read off that at 2000rpm. And about the steel hose for the EGR, should it matter if it is drawing air from the engine compartment rather than the exhaust? The Car runs ok it just won't idle.

vacume leak. thats what i think. maybe you fubar'd the gasket between the intake manifold when you put the new one on and ripped it or didnt tighten it right or maybe from leaving the egr tube unplugged from the bottom of the manifold if it opens it creates a vac leak i do believe. try to plug that up

the point of the EGR is to recirculate the exhaust gasses back through to give it a slower burn, or so i am told.
if the EGR is installed but the vaccum isnt hooked up it should run fine as it opens when it gets sucked on basicly. i would check your vaccum lines and make sure theyre all hooked up and if you took stuff off your intake make sure the holes are plugged real good and arent leakin, and check for other leaks as well.

how does it sound while its running, it it tat tat tat-ie?
