A/C to rip out? Or repair?

First: 83 280ZX Non-Turbo Non-T-Top

When I got the car there was no belt runing the the A/C pump thing. and the wire that runs to it looks like it has been in the belts a time or two. If I pull it off, Is there any way to tell if It's any good? And if It's no good What are all the A/C componets under the hood. I am cleaning it up, and geting it UnClusterd. So far I have takein out the Cruise Control, and Windsheld fluid reservoir(might relocate later). If A/C don't work, It's gone.

the only way to tell if it's good, is to hook up the belt & run the a/c...

I pulled all a/c components on my turbo. Just follow the lines, and pull them. purdy simple.

there's a lil black cylinder by the vacume canister. Copper lines. Thats part of the A/C right. I don't want to pull out something that ain't supposed to be out. It has a lil round glass window on top.

Yeah you would probably be shooting out freon, if there is any still in there. There was in my '81, after I wrecked it. So I didn't take it off.

You might as well pull the A/C condenser off too. Thats the aluminum fin part that sits in front of the radiator.

Seal off any lines that go through the firewall, those parts under the dash may someday be worth a good sum of money to someone needing them.

Don't discard the Compressor. Even if it's dead, the core is worth bucks. That is one insanely expensive A/C compressor.

Ridiculously expensive. I'm going to convert mine to a modern high effeciency model from a Honda w/R12. Smaller, lighter and more efficient than the ones used by Nissan back in the 80's. With R12, it should chill the car out like nothin' else.

Awsome!, Now you can put a sticker on the windshield of your Z that reads "A/C Powered by Honda".

It's a Honda, so it's 'Type-R' not 'GT-R'...

Try telling that to the guy with the Civic outside of the Texaco every weekend
Apparently he's driving an all wheel drive, twin turbo, RB powered Skyline that just looks like a Civic. Sure had me fooled

The guy spent $25k to make his car look like a Honda product? Woulda been cheaper to buy a Honda and put a Rotary in it
If i show him that link he might actually try to make his car look like a Skyline I shouldn't even joke about that cause I've seen it done in magazines. Well atleast it's not working backwards.

Why would anyone ruin an RX-7, by trying to make it look like a Honda, and Acura? Blehh, where is that puking smiley, or the one that is hitting itself with a hammer?
