'83 280ZX - Finding Front Tension Rod Bushings
I snapped my front passenger tension rod a few weeks ago, and am trying to find rubber bushings since many posts out there have suggested that the poly bushings are what caused the failure on my car. I found these for $40...

That seems awfully expensive to me. RockAuto has strut rod bushings:

ZCarDepot has rubber tension compression strut rod bushings:

I feel confident that I'd be fine buying any of these, as I think they're the same thing, can anyone weigh in on the tc rod bushing vs strut rod bushing vs tc strut rod bushing terminology? Can you use bushings from a 240/60/80Z, or stick with 280ZX?

Yes those are all same thing. Apparently if you use one rubber, one poly (on the same rod) it will not snap. I use one rubber one poly, but not sure if earlier Z cars had the same issue, so far so good either way.

Thank you! I have been debating on the poly/rubber or rubber/rubber arrangement. Did you put the poly on the front-facing side? My only concern is that it might still cause stress on the rod...I might try all rubber and see if it feels okay. If not, swap the front bushing out for the poly.

So for the poly I went to the side that takes the load on the braking, which is the front facing in a Z, I think in a ZX its the opposite. The back side takes most of the braking force grunt (someone correct me if I'm wrong its been a while since ive been under a ZX). To be honest I am sure rubber would have been fine for a daily driver/street car.
