Anyone have any good recommendations for a 1983 280zx non turbo cat back exhaust system? Looking for something to boost performance with minimal change in appearance and sound.

Welcome to ZDriver (lurker for a while?)!

You can buy an exhaust kit from MSA / BDA, then either install it yourself (if you know what you are doing) or pay someone (on top of what you've already paid) to install it.

Or, just take the car to a quality exhaust shop and have them fab up a custom exhaust in less time, and with less $green$ than a pre-fab kit that has to be freight shipped.

cool thank you for the help, another questions though. I like the look of the BDA exhaust, but i can't tell if it has been aluminized or not. I really want to go aluminized which is could do with the MSA exhaust, but i would have to fabricate the length of the exhaust to fit my coupe, is that a major issue? I am also looking at putting the CAI kit on too, is there anything else that is relatively straight forward I can add to boost performance?

I was also looking at getting this msa exhaust http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/PEC06/15-6025, but i had a question. Do you have to weld the pieces together and if you do is it something someone with very little welding experience could do?
