Hey all, I recently bought a 1980 280zx factory manual L20. When I bought it the engine and transmission had been removed, I have fitted it back in and wired it as best I can figure out however when I connect a battery and turn the key I can't even get the starter to turn over. So I'm asking if anyone knows if there's any little secrets to these cars that will make them not turn over?

 

Improperly wired starting circuit, bad ignition switch, poor battery condition, corrosion in/on wires. Lots of things to consider.
Download the 1980 FSM from this site its free, XenonZcar.com S130 Factory Service manuals, it has the wire diagrams. You will have to strip back some of the wire insulation to see the colors and you will need the color codes. The diagram is not a color diagram.
Here are the color codes
B-Black LG-light green Br-brown P-pink
W-white DG-dark green CH-dark brown V-violet
R-red L-blue Y-yellow Pu-purple
G-green SB-sky blue GY or Gr-grey O or Or-orange
