Thank you, I will get the injector seal kit and new retainers. I don't want problems down the road.
There are so many injectors to choose from, at various prices, it is hard to decide which to order. The link from a few days ago, regarding where to get z parts, was helpful when looking for he injectors.

Helpful for me though would be a step by step write up. I have search this fourm with out any luck.

There's a write up in the Haynes manual.

#1... Disconnect fuel pump harness in hatch area.

#2... Crank car a few times to alleviate fuel pressure.

#3... Pop hood, disconnect injector wiring clips, and remove the 8mm injector retainer bolts.

#4... Loosen & remove power steering belt, followed by the idler / tension pulley.

#5... This is my own way, but makes life easier: use 2 12mm nuts back to back & tighten them down on the stud at the idler pulley & remove pulley.

#6... Remove / disconnect all other hoses for the fuel rail & pull fuel rail out.

#7... Remove & replace injectors.

also dont be an ediot like me and connect the fuel lines to the fuel rail the opposite way.... took me 2 weeks to figure out what was wrong

good luck (i hear most people on hybrid cant get theirs to seal on the first try) but we here at Zdriver are the shiznit so you should be good

also you might want to replace the electical harness connector thingeys... easy to do with the replacement connectors, heatshrink insulation, and a heat gun(or a hair dryer night work) just label the wires... one is black i think but i did it to be safe and splice and shrink..

^^^ Ah yeah... skip step #4. You don't need to remove the pulley, but you will need to remove it's top stud to get the fuel rail off.

Thank you everyone. Mine is an 82 and it has rack and pinion - not power steering. I am going to remove the fuel rail even though it is tempting to leave it on.

Looking at the fuel rail, it is attached to the front of the engine with a bolt that also attachs other parts. Maybe it the altenator.

Has numorous fuel injectors. Granted some are for turbo and na, but why do you suppose ther is suh a wide difference in pricing? Is the cheapest one any good and do you think the more expensive ones are better?

Get Beck/Arnleys...best ones I have ever had. www.rockauto.com. And also look into an aftermarket fuel rail. Save you some headaches down the road. I really hate the stock trombone fuel rail. lol Life is so much easier with the aftermarket one. I can have the rail off...in 5-10 minutes. Good luck though man..we are pulling for you.
