1983 turbo

I picked up my new 83 turbo yesterday, it seems fine @ start up good idel. the car is running rich, and when I come to a stop or slow turn, with the clutch in the idel goes way down, like it wants to stall, after you stop it has what wy friend call a rolling idel (surging) between say 500-1000 rpms. any thoughts on a soulation. I don't know jack about this turbo setup..... help!!!!!!!! thanks hermultra

Do the same things you'd do for any used car just acquired...

Check timing, efi plugs & wiring, new cap & rotor, plugs, etc...

When was the last time it had a complete tune-up?

Like Nismo said, first do a complete tune-up, then clean every electrical connection from every sensor all the way back to the ECU and then replace every vacuum hose.

It's not fun or glamorous like bolting on a bigger turbo or installing a boost controller, but it will make sure your "new" car has every chance to run at it's full potential.

Once that's done, you won't waste your time unnecessarily replacing expensive sensors when you're diagnosing problems and if you want, you can start to upgrade the power knowing that you have a solid foundation to build on.
