1982 280zx no heat

Hello ALL

I recenty purchased a 1982 280zx. The car doesn't blow any heat, only cold air. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions as to what the problem might be?

Regards
Dave

It could be several things, have you checked your lines your heater core could be out as well.

Welcome to ZDriver!

Step 1: Check coolant level.
Step 2: As 280z brenda mentioned, hand check the temp of the heater core lines going through the firewall (an infrared thermometer comes in handy here).
Step 3: If you have proper coolant level and temp, either the water valve is stuck closed, or the heater core is clogged.

Following up I've found the Climate control valve was stuck closed and heater core OK.
Replaced climate control valve and still no heat.
Next step take apart dash and if something is clogged.

Before ripping everything out, did you do this?

Check the temp going in vs going out... both hot? Both cold? One hot one cold?

Yup please check the hoses going into the firewall first. Another thing that might have happened is, the PO had a leak in the system, dumped a bottle of stop leak in it, and plugged up the whole core. Check the hoses first, its a 2 second visual, if you arent sure just take a picture of passenger side block, from front of engine all the way to the firewall with some good lighting.

When I picked up my car the mechanic wasn't around so I didn't find out what the exact problem was. I am thinking there was a clog because he had to take apart the dash. I will find out for you next time I see him.
