Where to buy fuel injectors?
Where to buy fuel injectors?

I got one at Napa but it didn't have the metal part below the plug that the screws go thru to hold the injector in place. So it seemed that it wasn't the right one. Is there some trick to removing that metal piece from the old injector and putting it on the new one, or is that supposed to come on the injector?
Anybody order an injector from a big chain parts store or have suggestions where to get one? I'd rather not get one from a junkyard.
the rubber ring. It can look like metal at old age, and it will most likely be hard as rock also. Get it off. and the metal ring will just coem right off. If your gona use a old injector again(nothign wrong with that) get a new seal kit(about 1.50$ per injector). A injector form these car's have two rubber seals. One small one, and the larger one a lil bigger then a quarter(the one causeing you problems). You can cut if off.
Hahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!
That's pretty funny right there. I'm not sure if I should feel dumber or the parts guy at napa that looked up different parts codes for over an hour should feel dumber. Either way at least we both will have learned something today. I gotta get back there before they close.
Thanks guys!

I guess sometimes the simple things seem too simple and are overlooked.

I guess sometimes the simple things seem too simple and are overlooked.Gonna go out to the garage in a few minutes and see if I can't get her running tonight. Picked up another brand new set up plugs, so by the end of tonight whether the car runs or not, my back is going to be killing me.
Well after wrestling with it for the last two hours or so I finally got the new injector in and everything put back together. It fired up strong, but now with a very loud hissing sound which disappears when I give it gas, and when I shut the engine off smoke comes up from between the back of the engine and the firewall.
Nothing exploded or caught on fire, so things could definitely be worse. I'll have a look in better light tomorrow and see if I can figure out what I broke.

Well it runs really strong now, so I think that injector was definitely causing me some troubles. Here's a video of it running, the sound isn't too good but it's the best my poor camera can manage. Notice the puff of smoke when I turn the engine off.
Is there any chance that this could be caused by one of the injectors not being seated properly? I tried blowing some smoke around the engine while it was running to see if the smoke got sucked in anywhere, but it pretty much just went whereever I blew it. It wasn't doing this before I replaced the injector, so my money is on me being the cause of this. Boy the motor sure sounds good tho.

From that vid I see two things:
#1... you are missing the last exhaust manifold stud. You're prolly loosing some exhaust through that burning manifold gasket.
#2... the smoke could also be coming from oil / residue contacting the exhaust manifold.

Yeah I don't have Quicktime, and I am not a really a big fan of it either. When I download it on my system, it becomes the primary video player. And I think it sucks, compared to Windows Media Player. Thanks anyway man.

If you absolutely dont want to download quicktime though but would still like to watch Quicktime movies you can download Quicktime Alternative which actually plays the Quicktime movies in Windows Media Player. You dont actually download the Quicktime player, it's just a codec. Thats what I use to keep things simple. Link: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...lternative.htm
(there's also a Real alternative that I use so my media player plays Real type movies as well.

#1 hmmm, that could definitely be a problem. I put back all the bolts I removed, so it must have been gone to start with. I'll have to track down one of those bolts and see if that helps. Otherwise it looks like I have another project on my hands.
#2 I hope so. I did spray quite a bit of stuff in that area to loosen all the bolts before I messed with the injector. I was a little worried that I might not have gotten all six seated properly and that was causing the current issue.
As for the movie file, sorry bout that...forgot that it was even in quicktime. I use a quicktime alternative that lets me view quicktime files using media player. I have an intense hatred for both quicktime and real media and use alternatives for both.
For anyone that wants it, here's a link to the quicktime alternative. You can get the real media one by searching google for 'real player alternative'. I've been using both for about two years, never had an issue except for embedded quicktime files on innernet sites. It can't play those, but any that you have on your computer it will play just fine. Lot less of a hassle than installing quicktime.

Okay yeah I got it to work, thanks for the links. All aside, yeah I would start replacing that intake exhaust gasket. And is the bolt missing or is it broke off? If it is broke off, you will need to carefully extract it. I have been there and done that. Otherwise your Z sounds pretty healthy for the most part.

AutoZone... Checker / Kragen... NAPA... PartsPlus... Pep-Boys... etc. They all have good fuel injectors & most (if not all) come with a warranty for less cost than Nissan.
Some stuff is deffinately better OEM... but Nissan doesn't make injectors... Companies like Bosch & Denzo do.

If you're going to buy from a parts store (which is cheaper and better in some ways than nissan) I would buy from NAPA. I have never had a problem with their parts and they always seem to find just the right one.
