what could cause a bad missfire when cold?

83 na 280zx. What could cause a bad missfire when cold? I accidently ripped the wire off the thermo switch could this cause it?

Is the water temp sensing switch for the injector fan? It only missfires when cold once warm is drives amazing. Its so embarrasing leaving work with a bad missfire. Also the temp guage is at 3/4 at idle 1/2 on streets and 0 at freeway speeds what do those symptoms mean?

Yes, as stated above.

Check cold start valve, thermotime switch, and air regulator.

Check the connection (ohm test).
Check coolant level.
With an infrared thermometer, check temp at thermostat housing at operating temp, the check temp at lower intake hose. If cooling system is working properly, you should see a 20*F-30*F temp drop.

How do I check the thermal time switch and cold start valve my computer is not working at the moment.
