I'm in the process of making a turbo conversion on my z but was wondering if i need the tranny or is it the same?

You can use the stock non-turbo transmission.
They are rated to withstand less torque than the T5 found in the turbo cars, but others have said the Nissan unit is fine. It all depends on who you ask.... and how powerful you plan to build the turbo engine.

 

well it's from a stock turbo from an 83 so it's not that powerfull.
